Catch Dr. Leah Bessa, one of our 2019 GoGettaz Finalists at COP26!
She says, “I’m at COP26 as a youth fellow as a part of the UN Climate Champions Regenerative Agriculture team. I’ve been working with a team that is bringing regenerative agriculture and land restoration to the agenda at COP26 as part of a campaign that is called the Race to Zero. In the lead-up to COP26 I worked a bit with the Africa team who was a part of launching the land restoration report outlining the impact of land restoration in climate mitigation. I co-wrote a piece with fellow GoGetta Bonolo Monthe of Maungo Craft, Winner of the 2019 GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition that linked with the report as it launched:
Outside of COP26, my current venture is a company I co-founded called De Novo Dairy. We started this company in an effort to accelerate climate-smart technologies to produce better alternatives to animal agriculture, as well as to bring Africa to the global food tech conversation, by developing in house technology and keeping and building skills and expertise on the continent”.
